the sky is a beautiful blue today. it is amazing and it makes me think what a lucky person i am to have the luxury to stare at it! of course, like everyone else, i don't always think life's all that fab. but you know, there are ways of beating the 'mean reds'.
j-a's top tips for beating the lows
1. talk to someone more intelligent than you. this one is pretty easy for me to achieve....i firmly believe in the 'a problem shared is a problem halved' theory of life (yup, i have no shame). most of the time people just make me feel better by pointing out my logical fallacies.
2. think harder about why you feel upset. coz you know, you don't always get upset by colossal things that threaten to blow up your world. i know i get upset when i realise i don't fit into my ballgown (size 8, bought when i was... size 8) anymore. but really, that's just minor stuff, you know, i could have become bigger than i am now.
3. don't dwell on it too much. after a while, it all turns into mishmash, really. and unless you have a beautiful voice, it is really painful on your ears as well as others to carry on harping on about it. i'd say give yourself half a day to really 'wallow' in it all, then make sure you have a standby supply of comfort. this usually comes in the form of friends who are willing to go out with you for a coffee. hopefully they will also hit the right note and take you out for a drink. but don't drink to get drunk - then you get really depressed....ok, maybe drink isn't the right way.
4. do something else! you can move to sweden and learn swedish, like this francis strand. i find that even writing down a list of things i want to do helps, because it just makes my mind move forward, away from the 'horrible' now of whatever depressing situation i'm in. it's also a good excuse to plan crazy dream trails along any continent....
