A friend and I were talking about how to check out whether the person you are with is 'the One'. We didn't come up with any scientifically provable methods but we did scratch our heads about which feelings would guide us in the right direction. I can't believe I started discussing something like this with a barrister. But the conversation reminded me of dialogue in the film 'Ever After'...This is all recalled from memory so it is guaranteed to be inaccurate:
Prince Charming: "How do you know when you meet 'the One'? Say I met a girl, thought she was the One and married her. She gets struck by lightning. Then I meet another girl, think she could also be the One, and marry her. Does this mean that the first girl was not the One? And what if the first girl and the second girl are standing in front of me together, then who is the One? Are they both 'the One' or is it neither of them?"
