Cheering up

I've been giving lectures to the trainees and summer students - oops, no, they're meant to be called 'summer associates', like they would know the difference- the past two days and will be doing so for the rest of the week. This pro bono work is the result of me getting 'philosophical' after M. left.

It's difficult being away from M. and London and all the things that are familiar to me, but that's not to say that I need to get so low about it that I develop perpetual PMS. And it's not like I'm not going to see him again (in fact he's going to be back in September). I still let it get to me and I let little things at work get to me and the end result is I get ill frequently, have bags under my eyes, generally feel like a sad little dog, go out too much during weekends and all that negative stuff.

So I decided to do some 'good' - which meant inflicting myself on the trainees and the summer students/associates/whatever-you-call-them every day for introductory lectures on finance for this week. Heck, if I die, I will at least have done one good thing as a lawyer.

I also decided to lighten up generally so I'm adding in the following fellow to my list of blogs - Ham Sandwich. I've been reading him on and off and he's so funny and random - I literally laugh aloud when I read him.

There's also this great joke he posted:

Q: How do you know if you've been robbed by a Korean?
A: Your math homework will be done but your dogs will be missing.

Hey whaddya know, we're going to have a Typhoon signal 8 in one and a half hours. I'm going to be reading books at home and I'll be happy, for a change.
