Integrity

I went to church last Sunday.

The Californian vicar was leading the evangelical congregation through the story of Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah. Apart from his random denunciation of homosexuality ("they're not natural!"- pardon me, but this is not for you to decide), I found it rather interesting, as the vicar was going through the description of how you lose sight of 'goodness' by making little compromises in your life.

When do you start to lose your integrity? It starts with the little steps, white lies, little falsehoods you commit to yourself and to others. It's not when you commit a major act that degrades you, but when you do the little things, too. Can you put your hand on your heart and say that you are leading a life you are proud of? It's the difference between being pure because you are innocent and naive and being pure because you keep yourself so, despite certain knowledge.

I need to work on that.
