Scary future

I did a rare thing this week - I watched a complete programme on television. It was on the Discovery Channel (I can only get reception from cable, not terrestrial TV) and it was about the scary effects of global warming. I can only remember one sentence from the programme, though, as I was reading the newspaper at the same time: 'By the year 2015, there will be an apparent shortage of potable water all over the world'.

I called up M.
"I told you, Britain is going to be the next Mediterranean!" I said, telling him about the programme.
"OK, but you also said London is going to be under water," M. said. "So where should we live? The Arctic?"
"No, there won't be anything left there - it'll have all melted away," I said. "The scientists on the programme said that the Earth's temperature would rise by 5 degrees in the next couple of decades."
"That's a lot," M. said.
We haven't decided where we should move to yet.
