I would like to thank my parents, M., God and I want world peace for April Fool's Day
Whoa. I am in such a whirlwind today.
The reason why I didn't post yesterday is because I was busy. But not busy with work. I was busy talking to the Hong Kong publishers, Schuster & Radinsky. Did you get that? I was negotiating with
publishers! I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I'd better explain.
I've been submitting short stories to lots of magazines in Hong Kong for the past year (apart from when I was studying for the bar exam). Yesterday one of the guys who I work for in HK Magazine (it's a magazine for expats) called me to ask if I was interested in meeting one of the guys who heads the fiction publishing division (he was an old friend from university, apparently, and had turned up to say hello at the office). So during lunchtime I shot down to the office to say hello. The fellow who had introduced me to K. (the guy from S & R) had already shown him my stories that had been published. We started talking and eventually K. agreed to read a book proposal and an extract of 10,000 words if I prepare it for him before the beginning of May.
I am really, really excited. I'm not sure how I can fit in all of this with my workload but I'm going to try! I already have 5,000 words down but the structure of the book has been going around in circles. This is such an opportunity though, I can't blow it. Fingers crossed! Woo hoo! Yay! Hurrah!
