Still alive... but not particularly kicking
Make way! Make way! For the Woman has arrived in New York! Since arriving here last Wednesday, the Woman has run around town, walking up and down blithely in the rain to meet up with friends and her lover alike, hanging out in restaurants and museums with a smile on her face and a bounce in her curls.
Eh hem. Not quite, actually.
The running around in the rain has resulted in a dreadful cold. M. was sleeping while I switched from DayQuil to NyQuil. I snivelled my way through the weekend and slept in a blue fleece.
"I'm going to stay home tomorrow," I said to M. as we both watched the weather forecast saying that it might snow on Monday.
"Yes, I think you should do that," M. said.
Why is it that it's
sunny outside and I can see
blue sky? Where's the
snow? Since I'm still snivelling I'm not sure it's a great idea to venture outside to experience NYC in a more clement weather situation, even though I am dying to do so. I have calmed the urge within me to run out in my coat to buy books, find a good yoga centre and have my first bagel ('first' for this time round) and instead will contentedly do the laundry. Yes, I am a washerwoman today, not the Woman. And a washerwoman with a cold, at that. After running the washing machine, I shall live off of cereal and oranges, watch DVDs and accumulate little bits of rolled up tissue paper in a corner until M. comes back home. For now, the Woman lies dormant within.
